Terrasini in Sizilien

Terrasini liegt zwischen Palermo und Trapani, 24 km westlich von Palermo, 32 Meter ueber dem Meeresspiegel an dem weitläufigen, beeindruckenden Golf von Castellammare, in der Vergangenheit Schauplatz von historischen Ereignissen und besegelt von Griechen Phoenizern und Römischen Segelschiffen. Jetzt ein touristisches Zentrum mit einer Bevölkerung von etwa 10.000, eine Zahl, die sich in den Sommermonaten leicht verdreifacht, nicht nur wegen der herrlichen Lage des Städtchens sondern auch wegen der Gastfreundschaft seiner Menschen. Terrasini bekam seinen Namen hoechstwarscheinlich nach seiner mit Grotten und Höhlen durchsetzten Küste, aus dem Lateinischen “terraesinus”.

In den sechzigerJahren des 18. Jahrhunderts, hatten die Einwohner der Ortschaften, verteilt entlang der Westkueste Siziliens, des oefteren Gelegenheit auf einen malerischen Zeitgenossen zu treffen. Gekleidet wie ein Arzt mit einem vertraeumten Ausdruck im Gesicht. Instinktiv nahmen sie ihre Muetze vom Kopf zum Zeichen des Respekts fuer den “Abate”, der mit einem wohlwollenden Kopfnicken den Gruss erwiderte und seinen Gang entlang den Pfaden der Kueste oder im Feld fortsetzte. Fand er einen Platz, der seinen spirituellen Anforderungen entsprach – haeufig die eindrucksvolle Grotta Perciata – verblieb der Mann dort, oft fuer Stunden, vertieft in die Lektuere von Schriften, deren Autoren Namen fuer die Fischer und Schaefer die ihn antrafen meist unausprechbar blieben; oder er sass einfach dort und verfolgte mit lebhaften Augen den Flug der Moeven oder der Schmetterlinge, dem Spiel des Lichtes auf den Felsen oder dem der Eidechsen und lauschte dem Wispern der Olivenzweige im Wind oder dem Rauschen der Wellen wenn Sie sich am Strand brachen. Hier komponierte Giovanni Meli, denn um diesen handelt es sich, seine Elegie und die Gesaenge der Buccolica, inspiriert vom Salzgeruch den der Wind herbei brachte, vom Rascheln der Vegetation, den tausend Farben der ueberwaeltigenden sizilianischen Natur. Unter den bevorzugten Orten des Poeten auf der Suche nach Inspirationen rangierten die Landschaft und vor allem die Kueste von Terrasini und Favarotta, zwei Orte gegruendet im XVIII Jahrhundert am Beginn des Golfo di Castellammare.

We will be happy to accommodate you in the attic of our house, which is located just a few steps from the marvellous Mediterranean Sea and 4 km from the touristic village of Terrasini (35 km from Palermo). This studio flat can accommodate until 4 persons and is equipped with airconditioning, tv and private car park.
From the house you can access a small bay surrounded by the rocky coastline. The house is surrounded by a wide garden with fruit trees and Prickly Pears from where you can enjoy a magnificent panorama over the gulf of Castellammare. We may organize for you tasting courses of wines and typical sicilian products. We are waiting for You !
